Reflection 1

As I reflected on how the all-powerful, all-wise God will dwell with His saints FOREVER, I almost wanted to ask, "Isn't God settling a little bit?" I mean, HE IS GOD, and He can do anything. And He is choosing to spend eternity dwelling with us,with me. It just seems like He isn't living up to His full potential, and I wanted to ask, "Is that the best You can do, Lord?"

But as I pondered this idea, a verse from Ephesians came to my mind. It was one of those verses that I've heard countless times, but that never really "clicked." It says this:

"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints." Ephesians 1:18

In other words, it's a big deal that we understand just what a big inheritance it is for Jesus to get us. That's a mind twister. Jesus' inheritance is us-His saints-and Paul prays we would understand just how great an inheritance we are.

I've been thinking a lot these past few months about the truth that we will be glorified. And not just like a halo on our heads or a better body, butseriously changed.

First, those who are righteous will shine like the sun.

"Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear." Matthew 13:43

Second, those who have insight will shine brightly like expanse of heaven.

"Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven." Daniel 12:3a

Third, those who turn many to righteousness will shine like the stars.

"Those who lead the many to righteousness, [will shine] like the stars forever and ever." Daniel 12:3b

If anyone shields their eyes when they see me, it's only because I've been inside all winter, never because I'm as bright as the sun. But the day is coming when light will come out from our bodies like Moses after he saw God's glory on the mountain. (Exodus 34)

We will have glorified bodies. And since those who are righteous will shine like the sun, we won't be able to look any better than we will be looking.
