Day 3  - A Glorious, Heavenly Body

Our eternal bodies will be like Jesus' eternal body. Thus, our bodies will likely be able to do many of the same things Jesus did before and after He rose from the dead.

"When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory." Colossians 3:4

"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the LordJesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body , by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself." Philippians 3:20-21 ESV

"And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly." 1 Corinthians 15:49

"Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is." 1 John 3:2

"For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren." Romans 8:29

We were predestined, chosen by God in advance, to become transformed into the image of His Son. This idea that we will be like Jesus was established by God before we were even born.

Questions for Reflection and Discussion

What does Philippians 3:20-21 say will be the "model" or ideal body that our body will be fashioned after?

Why is it significant that our future body will be like Jesus's body?

We could take on bodies like angels, or God could make us into something completely new. Rather, He is going to make our future, glorious bodies into a body that is like Jesus. In light of 1 Corinthians 6:2-3, do you think this future body will have any significance in showing our status in the heavenly realms?
